Dallas White Rock Half-Marathon

Last weekend I ran the White Rock Half-Marathon with my good friend Stefanie. It's kinda funny how this race went. I was not prepared. I did not train well, I was not really mentally excited, I pretty much just wanted to get it over with and take a break from training and races for a while.

Stef came over Saturday afternoon and we went to the expo to pick up our packets, went to the mall, and went to a pasta dinner with Blake. All during this time I wasn't excited.

Race morning comes and I'm dreading the race. San Antonio was so bad for me and I thought this would be worse since I had only ran about 5 times since then. It doesn't help that its about 32 degrees as we stand in our corral for 45 minutes (!!!!!) waiting to actually start running. By this time i cant feel my feet, my hands are frozen, and im even more mentally checked out. So we start running. With a plan to run until we want to stop and then mix in some walking. Our only goal was to finish. If it meant 4 hours later, or walking 12 miles, I didnt care.

And then an amazing thing happened. We crossed the finish line. While still running. Although it was my worst time to date, I was SO happy (intense IT band pain and foot pain aside). we did it! we were so proud of ourselves. it would have been so easy to walk because we had already come to terms that we wouldnt be sad or disappointed at all if we did. But I guess we are just awesome.

13.1 miles down! (and yes wer are wearing the same shirt in different colors. we are so cute)

White Rock completed my 3rd and final half-marathon of the year. And now I'm excited to do it again (but I'm not rushing to sign up and spend the moolah just yet). Rock n Roll Dallas maybe?? Guess we'll see...

Thanksgiving 2010

For Thanksgiving this year, we traveled down to Waco the night before to spend Thanksgiving at Blake's parents house with his family and grandparents. We headed back to Dallas the night of Thanksgiving and my parents came up the next day to spend the weekend with us.

Pretty sad but the only pictures I took in Waco were of dogs...

mine and Blake's new nephew Louie (aka my brother in-law's new dog)

nina felt right at home and took over the dog beds

when my parents came up to dallas, we spent the weekend eating, shopping, chatting, and visiting the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Texan.

To Have and To Hold

The weekend before Thanksgiving, one of my best friends from high school got married back in our home town. Paige and Ryan are the perfect couple and we just love them! They are so fun loving and their wedding was a perfect representation of that. They got married an a venue right on the Brushy Creek and it was a beautiful location.

Paige and her dad

ow ow!

Paige and Ryan didn't want a "typical" wedding so they added some really unique touches here and there. One of those being that Paige made her bouquet and her bridesmaid's bouquets out of buttons.

Another unique touch was the dessert table. Instead of your traditional bride and groom cake, Paige and Ryan went with petit fours, cake balls, and the best ROUND ROCK DONUTS. i was a littlleeeee excited when i saw those beauties on the table. i love me some rr donuts.

RnR San Antonio

Last weekend I ran the Rock n' Roll San Antonio Half-Marathon. My mom and my younger sister also ran it so it was a family affair! It was not (at all) my best race, but it was so fun!

I flew in Saturday afternoon and my fam picked me up at the airport and we headed straight to the expo. Picking up packets was easy and efficient but the actual expo was a bit of a nightmare. I had a few booths that I wanted to stop by so we trudged on and got what we needed and got out of there.

We ate dinner on the Riverwalk (and passed the hotel that will always hold a special place in my heart-where we got engaged). Then we got our things ready and headed to bed. The 5:30 wakeup call came early but we were excited and ready to go!

leaving the hotel bright and earlyyy (ashley, mom, me)

i also finally got to run a race with my good friend laura

saying our goodbyes before getting into our corrals to start the race

World Series

Last weekend we spent our satuday in Arlington at the ballpark for Game 3 of the World Series. It was a perfect day of tailgating, seeing friends, cheering on the Rangers, and experiencing the Texas Rangers first (and sadly only) World Series win ever!

(Beware lots of pictures! And of course I forgot my camera *still mad about that* so most are either iphone bad quality or stolen from Deanna!

Hello Win Column! (sorry for the blurry iphone pic)

this picture does not do it justice but the concourses were OUT OF CONTROL. so much excitment!

I also had a little celeb sighting (picture to come soon since it is on Blake's phone).

SO SAD the series is over and that we didn't come out on top. But I am SO PROUD of the Ranger's amazing accomplishment. And proud to call myself a Rangers fan.

bay-lor BAYLOR BEARS FIGHT!

so last weekend was a perfect sports weekend for us. like i already mentioned about *the rangers being in the world series!!!* but baylor football is bowl bound. whaaaaaat?!?!
YES you heard that right!! our baylor bears won their 6th game of the series to make them bowl eligible. currently we are ranked #1 in the big 12 south, #2 overall in the big 12, #24 in the usa poll, and #25 in the ap poll. its CrAzY!
and to make it even more exciting, the game was homecoming and we were there celebrating with lots of old friends from college!
friday night we watched the rangers game and then went out to celebrate and met up with some old friends. saturday we got up bright and early to go to the parade. i have no pictures and considering the way we looked/felt that morning, its a good thing!
we had a late start to the game and ended up just making it in time to get into the stadium without our beloved georges tent before. game begins, 2 or so minutes go by, and there is a weather delay! we decided to head to georges at that point (it wasnt raining yet) and ended up getting stuck in a crazy monsoon. luckily some random people were nice enough to let us borrow their tent for protection.

stefanie and laura taking cover and holding onto the tent so it doesnt blow away. not kidding.

stefanie, laura and i at the georges tent

blake and i

we had about a 2 hour lightening delay, which we spent doing some tailgating at georges, and then we returned to the stadium for the game. it was SUCH a fun game. lots of people, our team did awesome, and we moved to some pretty great seats.

me, stefanie and katelyn

we are bowl bound baby! (now how about that pinstripe bowl so we can have a big reunion with amy again in nyc?!)

the student section rushed the field after the game

we love our baylor bears

Antlers Up

I'm just a littttttle bit excited about this but....

THE TEXAS RANGERS ARE IN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!

this is huuuuuge. the rangers have never before in franchise history made it to the world series. heck they have never before made it to the second round of the playoffs.

last weekend i was lucky enough to watch the game with my good friend stefanie. we were in waco for baylor homecoming (post coming next) and went to buffalo wild wings to cheer on our boys as they whipped up on those yankees.

claw and antlers

soooo happy we finally get to see our team doing so well!!
and blake and i are REALLY FREAKING PUMPED because we have tickets to game 3 of the world series!! i just cannot believe that we actually have tickets and am so excited. this is something we will remember for the rest of our lives...something people dream about getting to be a part of. CANT WAIT.
well i need to go get all ready to watch game 2 (and we are all praying that it goes a little *or a lot* better than last night).
but i will leave you with this little gem that i'm kind of obsessed with right now..
