its time!!

so pretty much it feels like christmas around the harbour household right now because...THE RANGERS ARE IN THE ALCS!!! now not only has it been quite some time since we have been in the playoffs (since 99) but we have never been to the second round. and we're up 2-1 in the series against the yankees.

this past friday i went to game one in arlington with my friend deanna. it was the most fun game of my life which turned into the most depressing game of my life. we should have won that game until we decided in the 8th inning that we would just hand it over to the yankees. (of course i didnt have my camera and my phone died during the game so i only a a few pics before the iphone died)
walking up to our pretty ballpark :)
yayyyyy!
loving the new beer cups
deanna and i
if the rangers win 2 more games they are on their way to the world series! i dont want to jinx anything but we may or may not have tickets to a game in the potential next series.. :) dont let me down rangers!!
now im going to whip up a quick dinner so blake and i can enjoy game 4 of the series. lets go rangers!!

Austin City Limits Music Festival

a few weekends ago was one of my favorite weekends of the year...acl weekend! this year, acl weekend just so happened to also fall on the weekend that baylor played texas tech at the cotton bowl so blake and i split up for the weekend. my niece, olivia, bought blake's ticket and was able to come enjoy the awesomeness that is ACL.

day 1: we began with lunch at jimmy johns and checking out a cute new boutique in austin with my mom. then she dropped us off at zilker park. we saw: blues traveler, miike snow, the black keys, slightly stoopid, vampire weekend, and phish.

olivia and i on day one. watching blues traveler.
the black keys. soo good.
day 2: we went to lunch again with my mom at chuys. olivia is from mississippi and unfortunately for her they dont have chuys there so she wanted her fix. she didnt have to twist my arm too much ;) saturday we ended up meeting up with my friend michael from high school and some of his friends. we saw: lucero, manchester orchestra, broken bells, temper trap, lcd soundsystem, deadmau5, mia, and muse.
we met up with my sister at deadmau5 (how you randomly run into someone in the midst of 75,000 people i still dont understand.)
deadmau5. so fun.
day 3: we rode with michael to zilker and stopped at thundercloud subs on the way. yum. we met up with an old friend of mine from elementary/middle school and also with one of my besties laura (which i dont have a pic of bc apparently the only one is on her camera..oops). we saw: portugal. the man, robert earl keen, rebelution, the flaming lips, the national, and the eagles!!
we watched the acl with the flaming lips lead singer wayne coyne. he is a very interesting guy...
meagan, me, olivia, and michael watching robert earl keen. meagan, michael and i all went to elementary/middle school (and michael and i went to high school) together.
taking a break to eat dinner while listening to rebelution.
flaming lips. the lead singer wayne always comes out in his "space bubble" at his concerts. we were so close to it. very fun show but i was a little disappointed that they didnt play my favorite song of theirs.
and we finished off the perfect weekend with the eagles! (here is a little deja vu shot from when i saw them the first time back in june) i just love the eagles and of course they put on an awesome show.
tickets for next years acl go on sale tomorrow and i am SO anxious. they sell out realllllly quick and if i dont get them tomorrow not only will i pay $20 more per ticket but most importantly i will have to wait until the spring to get them! so wish me luck!!

im an old woman!

on monday i turned 25! wowza that feels so old! it was a wonderful birthday though.

my parents came up the friday before to spend the weekend with us. on friday we went to arlington to watch those A.L. West Champion Rangers...lose. oh well, it was still fun.

bad seats..can ya tell??

saturday we got up and headed to the texas state fair. none of us had ever been before so we were excitedddd. it was texas/ou weekend aka the worst day possible to go to the fair but we didnt care! i was ready for some fried goodness.

we started off with some fletchers corn dogs..45 min wait but well worth it.

we then moved on to fried oreos which i am embarrassed to say are AMAZING. lucky i dont know a single place besides the fair that sells these.

walking around the midway

my parents in their longhorn crap, i mean clothes, in front of the cotton bowl

and a visit to Big Tex

after perusing the fair and trying out our goodies, my dad and blake set up shop to watch the game while my mom and i went into some of the shopping areas.

we left the fair at halftime to go home and get ready for dinner. for dinner we went to the porch which is one of my favorite restaurants in dallas. it seriously has the best macaroni and cheese EVER! (blake and my parents agree) im obsessed.

sunday i opened presents and am the proud new owner of a Garmin Forerunner 405 watch. so cool! i also got a new jacket so that is exciting as well.

the weather was soooo nice so my mom and i headed out for an 11 mile run. unfortunately my new toy had to charge so i didnt get to bring it with me :(

we ended the weekend with lunch at chipotle before my parents left and then a lazy day for blake and i.

monday night blake took me to a super yummy, fancy dinner at Cool River Cafe where i had a delicious steak and tried their maccaroni (didnt stack up any where near that of the porch).

after dinner

all in all it was a wonderful birthday filled with lots of love, sweet messages and cards from friends, and even a random indian lady singing me a bday song about shaking my presents or something like that (thanks amy!).

hills and heels and him recap

a week and a half ago i ran the hills and heels and him 10k race right here in my backyard. when my friend laura told me she was signing up for it i decided i might as well since i basically could walk to the start line.

basically the hills and heels race series focus on women and keeping women active. this race they include the "and him" so those man wouldnt feel so left out. but pretty much it was mostly women and a pretty small race (like 13 other women in my age group).

a really bad self portrait after finishing

in front of the las colinas mustangs

minus the humidity, and the lack of running i did the 2 weeks leading up to the race, it was rather enjoyable. the course ran through the champion trail here in las colinas which is one of my favorite places to run.

my time definitely could have been better but luckily that wasnt my goal.

the countdown is on..a little over a month until the rock n roll san antonio half!

bad blogger

ok so obviously, ive been a bad blogger. so im just gonna go ahead and get all caught up at one time. so here is what has been going on in our lives since july.

we went to a mexico soccer game at cowboys stadium with our friend will. yes we were about the only ones without vuvuzilas. (free tickets through blakes work..)

i started my new job which i love! its my internship to finish grad school.

we had a flash back to college gathering at my friend stefanies.

5 hour energy to prepare for a mean beer pong tourney.

i even met willie nelson that night.

we went to waco for the baylor season opener game.

then we went with my friends katie and stefanie to the baylor vs. tcu game in fort worth.

a little high school reunion with laura and will at happy hour for will's bday.

last minute yesterday blake got tickets through work to go see the blue man group. we had actually talked about getting tickets a while back but never got around to it so we were pretty excited to get some free ones! the show was so fun!

at this point i felt like we were at a flaming lips concert.

outside the opera house after the show.

so basically we have been loving our new lives in dallas, meeting new friends, trying LOTS of new restaurants, exploring and just enjoying life. we have a lot of exciting plans coming up so hopefully ill be a better blogger so i can document them!

the lights will inspire you

so im a little bit slow at blogging about my trip to new york city (and well everything else for that matter). so rainy, lazy saturday=catch up on the good old blog. so here it goes!

back in july i made a girls trip to new york city with my friends stefanie and laura to visit our good pal amy. it was so much fun! we did some sightseeing, eating, drinking, dancing, laughing, and even some cooking! pretty much all the things necessary for a good girls gathering!

walking the streets of nyc

watching john mayer at the today show!

central park

belvedere castle in central park

after our brewery tour at brooklyn brewery

walking across the brooklyn bridge

pizza at the famous grimaldi's. yum yum.

beach week

this past week my family gathered in destin, fl for a fun week of all things beach. we were very lucky to not have any disruptions by the stupid oil and were able to fully enjoy the gulf, sand, and even taking out my cousins yacht. unfortunately blake wasnt able to come because of work so we'll have to do it again soon once he has vacation days!

bp's solution to keeping the oil out...waiting for 15 min for the ropes to be moved so we could get the boat out..

sister Ashley, niece Olivia, and i on the front of the boat
